Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport: Skip an airport shuttle unless your hotel is paying for it. People Mover Route 40 serves both terminals and the Downtown Transit Center: roughly 23 minutes, $2 single ride or $5 day pass; frequency is about every 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes evenings/weekends. A taxi is the sensible late-night or luggage-heavy alternative: about 15 minutes and $17–22 to downtown.
Anchorage Depot / Alaska Railroad station: The depot is at the north edge of compact downtown, close enough to walk to many downtown hotels in 10–15 minutes; use a short taxi/rideshare only for Midtown, the airport, or bad weather. Summer Alaska Railroad services connect Anchorage with Seward, Whittier and Fairbanks; do not assume equivalent year-round frequency.
Whittier and Seward cruise/rail terminals: These are not Anchorage ports. Use the cruise line’s transfer or the Alaska Railroad in summer if it fits your schedule; Whittier is about 65 miles southeast and Seward substantially farther. A same-day independent transfer can be workable, but it is not a quick urban airport run.
