Getting in
Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport: Take RER B, not an airport taxi or a private “transfer” pitched in arrivals, for most central addresses. It serves Gare du Nord, Châtelet–Les Halles, Saint-Michel–Notre-Dame, Luxembourg and Denfert-Rochereau in roughly 35–50 minutes; the cited airport fare is about €14 and includes onward Métro/RER transfer. Trains are usually every 10 minutes. Use the official taxi rank only if your hotel, luggage or group makes a door-to-door ride genuinely worthwhile.
Paris Orly Airport: Métro line 14 is the clean answer: it runs directly to central Paris, including Châtelet, Pyramides and Saint-Lazare, in roughly 25–40 minutes depending on destination, with frequent service. The cited airport fare is about €14 and permits onward Métro/RER transfer. Do not take Orlyval to RER B unless it better serves your destination; line 14 is usually simpler.
Beauvais–Tillé Airport: This is not really a Paris airport: it is about 85 km northwest. Take the official Beauvais airport shuttle to Porte Maillot; allow about 75–100 minutes in real conditions, then another Métro trip to your hotel. The cited online fare is about €16.90 each way. A train via Beauvais plus an airport shuttle/taxi is usually slower, more awkward and can cost more.
Gare du Nord: You are already central. For a hotel beyond walking range, use Métro 4 or 5, or RER B/D where appropriate; Châtelet is about 5–10 minutes by RER and much of the Right Bank is 10–25 minutes away. Eurostar arrivals should expect a confusing station layout and ticket barriers—do not schedule a tight onward connection. Budget one standard city-transit fare for the transfer.
Gare de l’Est: Use Métro 4, 5 or 7; it is one stop/short walk from the Gare du Nord area and about 10–25 minutes to most central hotels. This is a practical arrival for eastern France, Germany and Luxembourg services, not a station from which to take a taxi by default. Budget one standard city-transit fare.
Gare de Lyon: Use Métro 1 or 14, or RER A/D according to the hotel; line 14 is especially useful for Châtelet, Pyramides and Saint-Lazare. Central destinations are typically 10–25 minutes away. Budget one standard city-transit fare rather than joining the taxi queue.
Gare Montparnasse: The station connects through Montparnasse–Bienvenüe to Métro 4, 6, 12 and 13. It is good for the Left Bank and usually 10–25 minutes from the centre; use line 4 for Saint-Germain/Châtelet rather than a traffic-prone cab. Budget one standard city-transit fare.
Gare d’Austerlitz: Take Métro 5 or 10, or RER C for destinations along the Left Bank and toward Versailles. The Latin Quarter is close; most central addresses are 10–25 minutes away. Budget one standard city-transit fare.
Gare Saint-Lazare: Use Métro 3, 9, 12, 13 or 14; line 14 makes the station unusually well connected to Pyramides, Châtelet and Gare de Lyon. You are already beside Opéra and the grands magasins, so walking can beat descending into the Métro. Budget one standard city-transit fare if needed.
Gare de Bercy: Use Métro 6 or 14; line 14 is the quick route to Gare de Lyon, Châtelet and Saint-Lazare. Allow roughly 15–30 minutes to central hotels. Budget one standard city-transit fare.
